Karl Randall

Karl began his musical journey at just fifteen, hitting the stage with 90s grunge-metal band Vivid, performing in local music halls and on the London live circuit. His early passion for rhythm and energy soon led him to new sounds, joining the Acid Jazz–Trance–Funk outfit More Water in the mid-90s and touring the UK once again.

A chance audition with folk-blues artist Ben Markus became a turning point, introducing Karl to Hammond player Dean Rees. The pair went on to form Sweet Felicity Arkwright, a soul-funk band that captured the spirit of the early 2000s live scene. During this time, Dean and Karl were invited to join Greg Ridley of 70s supergroup Humble Pie, completing what would become the band’s final lineup. Sadly, Greg passed away soon after, but his legacy lived on through a special tribute concert in London. It was at that show that Karl met Del Bromham of Stray, who, as fate would have it, was putting together a new lineup for the legendary British rock band.

The rest, as they say, is history. Karl has been Stray’s powerhouse drummer for over 15 years, touring internationally and bringing his trademark drive and groove to every show. He continues to perform and record with both Stray and Del Bromham’s Blues Devils to this day.

Karl’s impressive session career includes recording work with Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Toby Marriott (The Steve Marriott Band), Grief Society, and The Markus Band.

His live credits include performances with:

  • Dave Cattermole

  • Long John and the Blues Collective

  • The Marshall Amplification Band (with Chris George)

  • Pearl Handled Revolver…and many more.
